Ben Moore is a Licensed Architect in Kansas, Colorado, Texas & Missouri. The studio practices in downtowns / adaptive reuse, historic preservation, animal care, commercial and residential architecture. Ben has worked in historic preservation architecture since 2000.
The work of our studio is a meaningful search for beauty in architecture. The buildings we create and work on are based in contemporary architecture that is augmented by the prairie and vernacular buildings of the plains. The buildings are simple but meaningful interpretations of this measure.
Ben received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Kansas State University in 2000 and studied at ITALART in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy. While studying in Italy, Ben began working in watercolors and continued his study of the medium. In 2000, he received the Heintzelman Prize HM for his thesis project.
During the summers in his childhood, Ben worked as a cabinet maker with his father in Independence, Missouri. His mother taught him the skills of intuition and fostered the love of drawing and creativity.
Ben previously worked in Santa Fe, New Mexico on environmentally sustainable building projects with three different innovative architecture firms.

Mr. James graduated from Kansas State University in 2015 with a Master of Architecture degree, where he did his undergraduate work in Architecture as well. Growing up in St. Joseph, Missouri, Tanner has had an interest in historic preservation and adaptive reuse from an early age and brings an enthusiasm for these projects to Ben Moore Studio. In his free time he can be found fixing up his 1920s cottage, trying new cuisine, or being herded by his three welsh corgis.

Taylor is a project designer with a passion for historic preservation and adaptive reuse. Currently based in Manhattan, Kansas, Taylor brings a thoughtful and hands-on approach to Ben Moore Studio. Specializing in preserving the architectural integrity of historic buildings while incorporating modern functionality, Taylor is committed to ensuring that the character and history of each structure are honored while meeting the needs of today’s users.
Having honed her skills in Kansas City, Taylor now focuses on projects that breathe new life into iconic spaces, bridging the gap between the past and future. With a Master’s in Architecture from Kansas State University (2023) and membership as an Associate AIA, Taylor brings a blend of expertise, technical knowledge, and a deep understanding of local architectural heritage to every project.
In addition to her professional work, Taylor enjoys guiding clients through the often unfamiliar architectural process, making it accessible and engaging. Whether working with first-time clients or seasoned developers, Taylor finds satisfaction in helping people envision the potential of their spaces.
When not designing or researching historical details, she is likely to be found painting with watercolors, sketching in pen on the go, experimenting with new recipes, or dreaming of the day she will grow her own fruits, veggies, and raise chickens. Inspired by the beauty of the plains, her work integrates contemporary design principles with the vernacular architecture of the region, creating spaces that are both timeless and relevant.
